The 6th meeting of the Grant Committee in the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project was held on September 21st, 2022 in the building of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Culture, State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, National Bank of Tajikistan, Executive Body of State Power of Khatlon region, employee of the Rural Economy Development Project of the PIU under the Ministry of Finance, Grant Management Company and Grant Enablers companies.

At this meeting 42 grant applications were submitted for consideration of the Grant Committee for farms and small and medium-sized enterprises in the fields of agribusiness, tourism and related industries of cities and districts of Khatlon region and GBAO.

The proposed projects and business plans are mainly related to the purchase of equipment for processing , packaging and storage (organization of cold storage) of agricultural products after harvesting, production and packaging of honey, development of crafts (embroidery, fine embroidery, souvenirs, handicrafts made of wool and wood) , repair, improvement of sanitary and hygienic conditions and the purchase of necessary materials and equipment for hotels, boarding houses, teahouses and cafes, the purchase of necessary accessories and equipment for travel companies to improve the quality of tourism services, etc.

The proposed projects and business were carefully reviewed by the Grant Committee, as a result of which 35 grant applications were approved for financing, 6 applications were rejected due to inconsistency with the project objectives and existing requirements, 1 business plan was returned for revision.

It should be noted that within the framework of the Rural Economy Development project, 6 meetings of the Grant Committee have been held to date, 113 projects and business plans for a total amount of 1.15 million for the development of agribusiness, tourism and related industries in cities and districts of Khatlon region and GBAO have been approved for funding by the Project.
