The 8th meeting of the Grant Committee in the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project was held on December 16th, 2022 in the building of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Culture, State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Committee for Tourism Development, Executive Body of State Power of Khatlon region, employee of the Rural Economy Development Project of the PIU under the Ministry of Finance, Grant Management Company and Grant Enablers companies.

At this meeting of the Committee 32 grant applications were submitted for consideration, including 3 projects of the executive bodies of state power of cities and districts and 29 business plans for farms and small and medium-sized businesses in the fields of agribusiness, tourism and related sectors in Khatlon region and GBAO.

The proposed projects and business plans are mainly aimed at improving public infrastructure for the development of tourism and related sectors (overhaul of buildings and purchase of equipment for the house of culture, hotel construction and park reconstruction), purchase of equipment for processing, packaging and storage (organization of cold storage) of agricultural products after harvesting, honey processing, production of bakery products, development of crafts (embroidery, making souvenirs, wood crafts), repair and purchase of necessary materials and equipment for hotels, homestays and cafes.

As a result of a comprehensive review, the Grants Committee approved all grant applications for funding by the project.

It should be noted that within the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project, 8 meetings of the Grants Committee were held, as a result of which the project supported 184 grant applications (14 projects and 170 business plans) for a total amount of 1,96 million US dollars for the development of agribusiness, tourism and related sectors in Khatlon region and GBAO.
