The Fifth Meeting of the Grant Committee in the Framework of the Rural Economy Development Project
The 5th meeting of the Grant Committee in the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project was held on August 5th, 2022 in the building of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Culture, State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, National Bank of Tajikistan, Executive Body of State Power of Khatlon region and GBAO, employee of the Rural Economy Development Project of the PIU under the Ministry of Finance, Grant Management Company and Grant Enablers companies.
At this meeting of the Committee, 34 grant applications were submitted for consideration – 8 projects of the executive bodies of state power of cities and districts and 24 business plans for farms and small and medium-sized businesses in the fields of agribusiness, tourism and related industries of cities and districts of Khatlon region and GBAO.
The proposed projects and business plans are mainly aimed at improving public infrastructure for the development of tourism and related industries (repair, restoration and improvement of cultural and entertainment parks, repair and equipping of cultural halls and houses of culture, as well as historical buildings), purchase of equipment for processing, packaging and storage (organization of cold storage) of agricultural products after harvesting, milk processing and production of dairy products, purchase of equipment for the development of crafts (embroidery, decoration of national costumes, making wood crafts), repair and purchase of necessary materials and equipment for hotels and homestays, recreation areas, canteens and teahouses.
As a result of a comprehensive review by the Grants Committee, 33 grant applications – 8 projects of the executive bodies of state power of cities and districts and 23 business plans of farms and small and medium-sized businesses were approved for funding by the project, 1 business plan was returned for revision.
It is worth noting that within the framework of the Rural Economy Development project, five meetings of the Grants Committee have been held to date, in total 79 projects and business plans for a total amount of 879,3 thousand US dollars for the development of agribusiness, tourism and related industries in cities and districts of Khatlon region and GBAO have approved for funding by the Project.
